I recently learned that July 15th is National Clean Beauty Day, and if you know me, you know I love a reason to celebrate 🎉
So today I’ll be taking my time with my new daily skincare routine and soaking up all the delicious smells that come with using clean products (thank you God, for your amazing creation!) and reflecting on why clean beauty is so important to me.
And of course, you are a part of this clean living journey, so I’m bringing you into my brain.
Clean beauty wasn’t always my thing …
Okay, but I love my products
You might have a serum you swear by or a favorite lotion sitting in your bathroom that you vow to never stop using (even if you know the ingredients aren’t the best). Believe me, I’ve been there. Once upon a time I was dousing myself in all the latest products from the big beauty brands at Sephora (the thought of that makes me cringe now!!).
So when our first born, Jaxlee, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and I discovered that cleaner products would be an important investment to support her, I desperately needed to know more. Thus began the protective-mom-in-research-mode rabbit hole.
Know why it matters to you
When you have a reason to go clean— whether it’s a child with special needs or the desire to live a long healthy life with your husband— it becomes a necessity.
I learned sooo much about clean living, the impact of toxins on our brains and development, and the difference that whole, clean foods and green products can make on our lives and I was hooked.
It was easy to throw out all that fruity scented bubble bath and cakey foundation … But what about the products I loved? Enter: another rabbit hole of research and testing. I became a mad scientist trying every product I could find to replace my tried and true (and unfortunately toxic) products.
From cleaning the house and laundry to makeup that could perform in my career as a Bridal Hair & Makeup Artist, I needed the best of the best. And I needed it to support our family’s health.
Finding the best
After a LOT of trial and error and reading ingredient lists (so you don’t have to), I have a favorite product for just about everything. For a long time, Beautycounter was my go to makeup (more on that here), but nowadays I’m using Crunchi, Saie, Thrive Cosmetics mascara and focusing more on skincare.
Our skin is the foundation of how our makeup applies and lasts, so taking care of that gorgeous face matters!!Â
It’s all worth it
Once you know the stats of what toxins are doing to our bodies and start prioritizing the health of yourself and your family, it’s impossible to go back. In the last ten years I’ve become obsessed with the glamorously green life— products that perform for a makeup loving, girly girl like me and meet my high standards for non-toxic as a mom of three whose family is the #1 priority for all things.
It is my prayer that the non-toxic life is blessing you and your family, too. And if you haven’t figured out your favorite products or found things that you love, let me know! I am passionate about helping you find products that you love and support your health just like I’ve found for myself.
These changes have been so worth the research and testing. To see my family thrive through this lifestyle reminds me every day why I’m committed to these products and why I share them with you!!!
Okay babe, finish up that skincare routine, grab your water, and let’s cheers to Clean Beauty Day! 🥂
