A clean living journey + new clean blush swap

Last week I was chatting with a friend at girls night and, in total 30-something women fashion, this friend started sharing her latest clean makeup finds with me. Yes, I know women my age are always talking about the new healthy creamer they tried or the moisturizer that they’re obsessed with, but this conversation was bigger than that for me.

I’ve been friends with this woman since high school. We both lived most of our lives not thinking twice about the ingredients in our makeup and skincare or what kind of soap we used. But when we both were introduced to Beautycounter, it changed our minds about everything we consume.

When I asked her what she’s doing now that she didn’t do before, she said, “I’m not sure if I’ve changed that much…” and then she proceeded to rattle off a list of ways she and her family try to live clean.

Things like:

  • Buying organic kid snacks with no sugar added
  • Choosing deli meat from the counter instead of a processed package
  • Clean soaps and shampoo for her kids

And, of course, she uses Beautycounter.

When I introduced Beautycounter to her, I was new to it, too. I was in the thick of learning how specific ingredients are linked to things like hormone & reproductive issues— things like heavy metal toxicity— and yes, all too common now, even things like cancer. I dove into even more resources on how quickly the bloodstream absorbs up to 70% of the products we put on it within 26 seconds. As I was learning all of this, I knew I had to tell the women in my life. I didn’t want to just learn it all for me, I wanted to educate and empower other women so they could start making the shifts as well.

Joining Beautycounter changed the way my family lives, and it changed the path for people like my friend, too. And we’re all healthier for it.

This is what I love about Beautycounter. I mean, obviously, this professional Hair and Makeup Artist is all about new, beautiful products and packaging, but it was the gateway to understanding so much more about ethically sourced ingredients, the lack of regulation on unhealthy products, etc.

Beautycounter is committed to changing the beauty industry through beauty products that don’t contain any harmful ingredients AND that perform and wear equivalent to alternative high end makeup products.

I would be honored to help you get started on your journey to clean. It can be as simple as swapping out your foundation or as complex as clearing out your entire makeup drawer. Here are 5 simple swaps you can make to start your nontoxic journey.

But, let’s keep it fun, shall we?

Today a fun simple switch could be tossing your powder blush (check out the ingredients and look for talc or talcum) for a cream blush like this one. Bonus? You can use it as a lip color, too!
