July marks a huge milestone for me: five years ago I started my Beautycounter business.

After receiving some Beautycounter samples in the mail from a college friend, and learning all about the toxins I was putting on my body– and my baby girl– I knew I wanted to make a lifestyle change for me and my family.

I also saw the opportunity to help my friends and family to experience the same change I felt… you know, the feeling of putting on makeup when you’re pregnant or dealing with a brain tumor and NOT having to worry if you’re doing harm.
That’s what happens when you get rid of toxic products, especially ones like makeup and skincare. And I wanted that for the people around me.
With my heart all in, I jumped in head first and committed to working hard and showing up.
Yes, I’m celebrating 5 years with Beautycounter. But I’m also celebrating 5 years of working with every single one of YOU.
Looking back on the last five years of my Beautycounter business, the number one thing that stands out to me is the community that has formed around me.
Both my clients and my teammates and the Beautycounter community at large have created this unique opportunity for me to develop as an entrepreneur, a leader, a mother and a friend.
I am 100% aware that you have the choice to run to your nearest cosmetic store or website and purchase products for you and your family. It is not lost on me when you take the opportunity to send me a message asking for a personal consultation or hop on my website and purchase through me. Each and every order I receive builds a sense of pride and fulfillment in my life that translates into many different ways.
Over the years my BEAUTYCOUNTER business has afforded me so many opportunities:
- Providing alternative therapy programs for Jaxlee in which I am eternally grateful for.
- Connecting with other women in helping them on their personal clean living journey.
- Starting a blog where I get to further share our journey of special needs, clean living and business.
- Watching families’ lives changed through the BEAUTYCOUNTER business and having the opportunity to earn additional income.
- Being a part of a company that gives women fighting cancer clean beauty products to support them in their fight.
These are just a few examples of why I have so much gratitude for each and every one of you who has played and continues to play a part in my business.
These are also the reasons I’ve stayed with the business through the ebbs and flows of my personal life; they have a mission larger than selling a good, clean product. And I get to be a part of it in tangible ways.
As I sit here, I know that I’m in a very different season than I was even 6 months ago, but I still can rely on the long-term approach I’ve built.
There have been seasons where I stayed up until midnight working on my business, in a full-on hustle mode.
But there have been seasons like right now, where I’m giving myself room to navigate what it looks like to run a business and a family of 5. They need me, and yet at the same time, I have dreams and goals I’m chasing.
I was riding my Peloton the other day and Ally Love (you know I love her) said something that really stuck with me. She said, “Typically your long term investments are the ones that produce the highest yield.”
I can’t tell you what these next 5 years will look like but I can tell you they will be full of growth, change and success. And for that, I am forever grateful.
Let’s cheers and celebrate the past 5 years together! I appreciate you and am forever grateful for being a part of this journey with me.
xoxo,
Emily
