As an Enneagram 3, I thrive off of making New Year’s resolutions, vision boards, goal setting… whatever you want to call it. I love setting goals and working throughout the year to achieve them. And man, when I do achieve a goal or a dream, it feels amazing. (Read more about my highlights from 2020 here!) It lights a fire under my butt to keep on going towards the next one.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always made a list of goals and resolutions for the upcoming new year. This year is no different.
As I was breaking in my new 2021 Start Planner, I went through the goals sections and filled up every inch of the categories listed, including Home Life, Personal, Spiritual, Physical, Financial, Professional, Continuing Education, & Travel.
I think there is power in sharing them and owning them beyond what is written in my planner. While I am not going to bore you with all the details from every category, I do want to share my top 5 goals I will achieve this year.
#1 Get our family debt-free!
In our first year of marriage, Jonny & I went through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course together. While we haven’t followed his financial principles to a T, Jonny & I both see the benefit of paying off all our debt. 2021 is the year to do it!! Last year we tackled $35k, so we’re heading into this year with a fire under us.
#2 Create & launch a product or service:
This was something I had on my list for 2020 but it didn’t happen. (I re-branded my website and launched a weekly blog and email newsletter instead!) Now that I have the right team in place, we have been working on a couple of ideas to bring you some amazing content that will simplify your life & help you grow your business. Want to know more about this upcoming opportunity? Be sure to join my email list here to stay in the loop on all the latest.
#3 Take a family trip:
My dream is to take the kids to Aulani in Hawaii. I know everyone is dreaming of something tropical right now, and I want my family to experience it as well. We do best when we’re away from the normal routine of life, and I want us to celebrate the simple joy of being together– in a beautiful place.
#4 Hire a home organizer:
Between the stacks of mail in my laundry room and the piles of medical paperwork in my office, I know some organization would go a long way (for my mental & physical well-being). I dream about having systems in my home to streamline processes like filing important documents, and getting all the laundry put away so I can spend my time on more important things. Once the systems are set up, I know maintaining them would be a whole lot easier. I honestly just don’t know where to start? If you know someone, help a girl out!
#5 Help Jaxlee hit her goals:
I know this seems like a bit much to make goals for your kid, but A. Helloooo I’m an Enneagram 3, and B. I want my girl to grow. When I write down goals for Jax it helps me stay motivated to work with her day in and day out. It keeps me accountable for finding new opportunities for growth for her and getting her into these special programs. On an academic level, my goal for her is to be reading & spelling sight words at a 1st-grade level by the end of 2021. On a larger-scale level, my dream is for Jax to experience a special kind of summer camps like an AAC Camp or a Horse camp. I also dream about her getting into an intensive therapy program at the NAPA Center in LA.
Regardless of what 2021 throws us (including a new baby!!!), we are ready for it. We hold our plans loosely and our dreams even bigger.
xoxo,
Emily
Love this! 💜
Hey girl! Organizing to be inspired: neat method on Netflix, Marie Kondo on audible (audiobook so you can listen AND organize), and do what “sparks joy”. For me that meant pretty clear organizers like those for sale on neat methods website (also on amazon). I also helped my mom organize her kitchen. Let me tell you, systems and processes free up your brain and ease anxiety! Neat method adds the pretty factor and Marie Kondo makes it something you can maintain not just organize and find trashed in a month.
